Introduction

This 33rd issue of Surveillance Guide News provides links to sources of information relative to the main subjects summarized above.

Biometrics Recognition represents the sum of Research, Studies, Technology and Methods in continuous rapid expansion to new and important Applications connected with Surveillance and Security.

The most striking are those already employed in certain Airports for Border Control and Admission that, by automating the processes of recognition, identification, verification and authorization, greatly simplify and expedite the passengers arrival and departure operations when compared to old manual procedures.

In large organizations the same technologies are applied, besides for access control, also for presence and time recording of personnel, streaming in and out at all times.

Although still much research is going on, it seems that for increased security the preferred methods integrate independent different biometric techniques.

In all these applications, the process starts with the collection of individual biometric data, augmented with other traditional means of identification and personal data, for building the database to be interrogated every time the person passes the check points.

It is a very dynamic field of interest for all those who dedicate their attention to Surveillance and Security. This publication lists a number of sources likely to present the subjects treated in a wide perspective, useful for gaining understanding and basic information for further study.
