Motion-activated-lights

that scare and deter...

Home > Security Systems > Motion Activated Lights

Motion-activated-lights are powerful deterrents. How do we know?
Imagine a dark figure approaching one of the entrances cautiously in the dark. Nobody seems to notice.

Suddenly, after one more step, the place is lit up by dazzling lamps: nowhere to hide. The only option left to the would be intruder is to flee quickly away. Not bad for such a simple precaution.

Simple and inexpensive, the Motion-activated-lights device, also called Outdoor Motion Monitor with Floodlight, is all that is needed. In the right place, essentially out of reach, it is highly efficient as an unwelcome hindrance to any sneaky visitor.

With some more tinkering the motion activated alarm can trigger also the start of recording of a surveillance camera, as remarked elsewhere in this same website.

Not only that. A simple contact relay activated by the same motion sensor could operate also a shrieking siren and additional blinking lights to call the attention of passers by and interfere with somebody's mischievous plans.

What should happen after Motion-activated-lights get off is a question of the most important concern. Ideally, in a tightly knit neighborhood where people know each other and are helpful and caring, friendly neighbors should come out to meet the homeowner and gather at the place, so that intruders understand that any of their actions is monitored and witnessed.

No actual confrontation is needed. The ill intentioned will leave quickly the place swearing not to come back ever again, even before the police is alerted.

Security lighting can also be used inside. Lights can be set to go on and off randomly in different parts of the house. To anyone that may be watching this gives the impression that somebody is still up and moving about.

Normally a burglar would prefer not to meet any person whose reactions in panic cannot be foreseen.

The bathroom lights can be left lit all night long. This is the recommendation from a famous ex-burglar...

Occasionally a small animal moving around at night might set the Motion-activated-lights alarm (the so called false positive), but the more sophisticated devices can distinguish between a pet and a full size human body.

For those considering the various available implements of a home security system, Motion-activated-lights are one of the best value for money investments worth exploring.
