Why should Community Safety be any of your business?
Why should a Website like this one, dedicated to provide information on Home Surveillance and Security, suddenly decide to introduce its readers also to such a theme of vastly larger scope? Well, the reason is explained further on, down this page.

It is a sad occurrence that we live in a dangerous world as we are constantly reminded by what we read in our daily newspapers.

Most people think that Community-Safety is normally the job and the prerogative of Authorities, Departments, Organizations etc. In fact these have their hands full of work in trying to contain damages, to catch criminals and to bring them to justice.

But unfortunately those Authorities, Departments, Committees etc. come short of providing complete Community-Safety for all. They maintain law and order as much as they can, keep the statistics, suggest ideas and support local initiatives.

It is true that this First do-it-yourself Home Surveillance Guide recommends that you implement complex surveillance and security systems to protect yourself and your loved ones. That is what this Website is all about and what it is trying to help you to do.

You should also strive to be informed and to take all useful precautions as recommended by those engaging in providing public security.

If you care to search in the Internet (under "Community-Safety") and see what the Authorities write in their websites, you will easily find out that they urge common citizens like you and me to take part in the daily struggle to enhance safety in the neighborhood.

What is needed to improve Community-Safety in the place where you live is indeed, first and foremost, the personal commitment of responsible citizens like you, capable and willing to take charge and motivate their community.

There may be differences in the various locations but undoubtedly it is a better place that where people are involved in knowing each other and in helping as much as possible those who are most in need of assistance.

In essence if you want to improve the Community-Safety in your area you should get involved, together with your neighbors and friends.

We find in one of the official Websites mentioned above sentences like: "Citizens [should] be active in helping to identify Community-Safety priorities for their neighborhoods and to work with key agencies to make sure they are tackled. Strong and active voluntary and community groups make a vital contribution to community safety."

Another recommendation put forward at least by one of these official websites is that you contact Neighborhood Watch in your area, a loose type of voluntary initiatives dedicated to monitor the health of the community to make it a safer place to live in. It amounts to see the symptoms of malaise before they cause much damage to the surroundings.

You may fear that it will be difficult to start alone, but if you can find one or two suitable people to enlist, you will certainly be able to drag a small crowd behind you and improve significantly the Community-Safety of the place where you live.

Your achievement will then be the most important contribution to the Security of your household.
